King’s School is a co-educational school for children up to the age of 11. It is a fee-paying school operating an open admissions policy that includes pupils from across the ability range.
When an initial enquiry has been made to the School a prospectus will be sent to the parents or alternatively downloaded from the website. The next step is to come and meet us for a ‘showaround’. This is usually conducted by the Registrar and followed by an informal meeting with the Headteacher, Mrs Lee. There is an optional opportunity for prospective children to come in and have a trial day when they can meet their potential new classmates and teacher.
In order to register a child for entry, the Registration Form should be completed and returned to the Registrar, along with the Registration Fee.
Children are assessed on admission in order to evaluate their base-line achievements, and to build a profile for the purposes of comparison; they may also be assessed on transfer from other schools, but they would not be refused admission on the basis of low achievement in such tests. As long as a child would be able to benefit from the facilities and the curriculum at King’s, and subject to there being a vacancy in the class, an offer of a place would be made.
Admission is conditional upon signing a school / parent contract which, in addition to covering practical matters such as fees, seeks to ensure commitment to the ethos of the school and broad support for its policies, including such issues as discipline.
