Kings School is a co-educational school for children up to the age of 11. It is a fee-paying school which operates an open admissions policy, including pupils across the ability range.
When an initial enquiry has been made to the school a prospectus will be sent to the parents or can be downloaded from the website. The next step is to come and meet us and have a showround which is usually conducted by the older children, followed by an informal meeting with the Head teacher. There is an optional opportunity for the prospective child/children to come in and have a trial day to meet their potential new classmates and their teacher.
Children are assessed on admission in order to evaluate their base-line achievements and to build a profile for the purposes of comparison. They may also be assessed on transfer from other schools, but they would not be refused admission on the basis of low achievement in such tests. As long as a child would be able to benefit from the facilities and the curriculum at Kings and subject to there being a vacancy in the class, then an offer of a place would be made.
Admission is conditional on signing a school / parent contract which, in addition to covering practical matters such as fees, seeks to ensure commitment to the ethos of the school and broad support for its policies, concerning such issues as discipline.
