Welcome To King's School Junior Department
The junior department is comprised of pupils aged 7 - 11 in Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum. The timetable is more structured and is subject specific, which prepares the children for the eventual transition to secondary school. Pupils are taught by their class teacher in their own classroom but with specialist teachers for French, Music, ICT, Speech, Dance, Tennis and Swimming.
Homework is gradually increased in the Junior Department. This is to establish good study habits from an early age. Children's progress is regularly assessed by the class teacher using a wide range of appropriate test material. This enables us to track children's learning and provide the necessary support or extension work.
From as young as 7 your child will be able to take part in some exciting extra curricular activities either at lunchtime or after school. They can try their hand at a range of activities such as gardening, sailing, textiles, card making, tag rugby and digital photography.
