A Win For Our 'Music Makers'

Posted on 18 November 2011

Our school choir, the 'Music Makers', won first prize at the Plymouth Music Festival last week and were delighted to collect a cup, shield and certificate to mark their achievement.  Performing first in their competition class was a daunting challenge, however the children put aside their nerves and gave a wonderful rendition of two songs, 'Just a Breath Away', which required harmonies and the emotionally charged 'Jealousy and Hatred'.

The children had spent many weeks practising the pieces, creating actions that add to the interpretation of the songs. Morwenna (Year 5) said ' When we got onto the stage, I was quite scared because there was a balcony and lots of people were sitting up there, but when we started singing my fears went.'  Nidhi 'Year 5' added 'It was fun learning the songs and practising them too.  We were very pleased and happy with our singing and the results, but most importantly we had fun!'
